ANA, Alaska Airlines, SAS and JAL continue to demonstrate sustained operational excellence

Portlnad, OR (PRWEB) January 23, 2012

FlightStats, the undisputed leader in flight and airport information services, is proud to announce the winners of the FlightStats 2011 On-time Performance Awards. The OPS Awards recognizes airlines and airports around the world that achieve sustained operational excellence. Airlines are recognized for delivering the highest percentage of flights to their arrivals gates within 15 minutes of the scheduled arrival time. Airports are recognized for delivering the highest percentage of departures from the gate less than 15 minutes after the published scheduled departure time.

“In 2011, seven of the fifteen winners had previously received the award,” says Jeff Kennedy, the company's CEO. “It has become very clear from our discussions with on-time performance winners around the world that achieving sustained operational excellence requires a focused effort from all employees.”

Striving for on-time excellence can also have a profound affect on the overall performance of the company. “Though our company went bankrupt in 2010 and received a bad impression, the on-time performance award has improved the image of our company,” says JAL's Yoshiki Minami. “At the same time, employees recognize on-time performance as one of our main service qualities and are encouraged to keep or raise on-time performance to a world leading level.”

For airports, collaborating with airlines is fundamental to operational excellence. “There are two factors that contribute to the successful performance at Salt Lake City International Airport,” says SLC's Barbara Gann. “We work very closely with our airline partners to coordinate airfield activity and snow and ice removal is a high priority.”
