GlobalAir.com donates $1,000 to Kentucky Institute for Aerospace Education, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving STEM learning through hands-on application in aviation and aerospace

Louisville, Ky. (PRWEB) January 17, 2012

GlobalAir.com, a web-based aviation information site, recently donated $1,000 to the Kentucky Institute for Aerospace Education (KIAE) to help support its education programs and initiatives.

The Kentucky Institute for Aerospace Education is a non-profit organization that was incorporated in 2010 and is dedicated to improving learning in the areas of applied science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) by creating hands-on opportunities for high school students to apply their classroom knowledge to aviation and aerospace projects and associated competitions.

The Kentucky Institute for Aerospace Education operates as an aerospace learning laboratory in collaboration with Frankfort High School Aviation Academy and its network schools and provides network schools with toolkits and resources such as flight kits, aircraft maintenance resources, and engineering materials at no charge. There are currently 13 schools in the organization's network, and the organization is working to become one of the P20 Innovation Labs serving schools in Kentucky.

“We are extremely proud to be a partner of the Kentucky Institute for Aerospace Education and glad we could contribute a monetary donation to their organization,” said Jeffrey Carrithers, President and CEO of GlobalAir.com. “Kentucky is the only state in the nation that offers a program like this, and we want to do everything we can to continue to support them and raise awareness for this outstanding organization. We share the KIAE's passion for educating today's youth about careers in aerospace and aviation in a fun and engaging environment. Aviation is an industry that's all about passion, and nothing ignites that passion like a hands-on experience with aeronautic concepts and seeing knowledge come to life in something tangible.”

Partners of the organization include many other organizations and businesses in various capacities, such as Build A Plane, Aeroscholars, the Experimental Aviation Association (EAA) and their Young Eagles program, Kentucky Aviation Association, Kentucky Department of Aviation, NASA Kentucky, Skills USA, and UPS.
