VIENNA, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

The International Association for K-12 Online Learning (iNACOL) will begin its 2012 Leadership Webinar Series with an overview and update from Digital Learning Now on efforts to implement state-level online learning policy changes, including a dialogue on approaches for improving student access, quality, equity and more.

The webinar, “Next Steps for Digital Learning Now,” will focus on the continued work of the Digital Learning Council on the reform needed in order to provide all students with the opportunity to engage in high-quality online learning.

“In 2011, sixteen states enacted legislation related to online learning,” said Susan Patrick, President and CEO of iNACOL. “But there are still policy barriers that hinder student access and equity. While we continue to see K-12 online and blended learning programs grow at a rapid pace on a national scale with strong demand from students interested in online courses, the growth remains uneven state by state.”

Chip Slavin, a senior advocacy associate for the Alliance for Excellent Education, will present an update on his work to develop model legislation based on Digital Learning Now in the webinar, providing insight into the policy changes needed to create a high-quality digital learning environment for all students.

Deirdre Finn, Deputy Executive Director of the Foundation for Excellence in Education, will discuss her organization's “Roadmap to Reform,” a report providing guidance for state policymakers seeking to implement K-12 online learning options.

A discussion will follow these presentations and organizations are encouraged to engage in the dialogue.

The webinar will be held Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 2:00 PM Eastern. To register, please visit: http://www.inacol.org/events/webinar/index.php
