eBay veteran and recent Greylock Executive-in-Residence brings ecommerce vision and experience for managing fast-paced growth.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) December 12, 2011

Trunk Club, an innovative clothing service for men who want to dress well but have neither the patience nor time for traditional retail and online stores, today announced the appointment of Rob Chesney as Chief Operating Officer (COO). The announcement comes as Trunk Club experiences rapid growth in members, revenue and headcount.

Mr. Chesney comes to Trunk Club from Greylock Partners. In his role as Executive-in-Residence (EIR), he advised Greylock's early-stage consumer-focused businesses looking to scale into large, market-disrupting companies. Prior to Greylock, Mr. Chesney served as Vice President of eBay's Buyer Experience team, overseeing the company's largest business verticals, including fashion, technology, media and home. He had previously led eBay Motors as Vice President and General Manager, taking the business from its early beginnings to one of the world's top 10 e-commerce properties with thirteen million unique visitors a month.

"Rob's track record of leading new business models through periods of hyper growth combined with experience building world class teams make him a highly sought after executive in the ecommerce space," said Brian Spaly, CEO of Trunk Club.

Mr. Chesney joins Trunk Club at the end of a successful year which saw revenues grow over 500% year-over-year to a projected $5.5 million for 2011. Company headcount also grew to more than 60 employees, up from 16 at the beginning of the year. It is Trunk Club's potential for continued, rapid growth coupled with its unique service offering that drew Mr. Chesney to the company.

"Trunk Club offers the only online, risk-free personal shopping service for men,” said Mr. Chesney. “Trunk Club's mission is to make men look great and take the hassle out of traditional shopping while also introducing them to styles and brands they would otherwise never experience. It's transformative for the consumer. No one else is doing this in the men's fashion space, and guys are flocking to the service."

As COO, Mr. Chesney will play a central role in general management. He will also oversee customer acquisition efforts and lead innovation of the technology platform to enhance the customer experience and create operational efficiencies for the sales and fulfillment organizations.
