SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Amp Orthopedics, Inc. has been selected as the new corporate name for Ivivi Orthopedic Health, Inc., the privately held medical device company announced today. The selection of the name Amp Orthopedics reflects the company's therapeutic and commercial focus on the growing field of orthopedic specialties, including post-operative indications and musculoskeletal diseases. Amp's innovative, patented non-thermal pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) technology has been shown to have broad potential as a safe and effective non-invasive approach to ameliorating pain and edema in the orthopedic setting. In addition to its initial commercial applications, Amp's clinical development pipeline includes multiple post-surgical and orthopedic disease indications, reflecting Amp's strategy to build a market-leading, global orthopedics business.

“Amp Orthopedics reflects our company's strategy to bring critical change to the treatment paradigm for pain management in orthopedic indications by providing safer, more effective and non-narcotic treatments. Our PRF technology holds the potential to enhance treatment outcomes, accelerate surgical recovery and reduce healthcare costs,” said Eric Dremel, Amp Chief Executive Officer. “With an aging population worldwide experiencing a growing rate of orthopedic diseases and procedures, patients and physicians need expanded alternatives to narcotic pain and anti-inflammatory medications that carry the risks of significant side effects or addiction. We believe that Amp's innovative technology and products can enhance the standard of care in pain management and bring major therapeutic advances to the orthopedics field.”

About Amp's PRF Technology

Amp's proprietary technology utilizes a targeted, non-invasive, PRF signal which induces an electrical field to create a specific biological effect in tissue by increasing the binding kinetics of intracellular calcium to calmodulin (a first-order signaling molecule), which accelerates calmodulin-dependent biochemical cascades that are involved in tissue repair and regeneration. Electrical fields have successfully been utilized for treatment of delayed-union fractures, chronic wounds, and postoperative pain and edema, as well as for the management of knee OA symptoms.

Amp's technology received U.S. Food and Drug Administration 510(k) clearance for adjunctive use in the palliative treatment of post-operative pain and edema in superficial soft tissue in December 2008. It consists of a signal generator (power supply), a therapy applicator, and a lightweight coil placed over the treatment area. The device is easily applied and is designed to target only injured tissue. The patented technology has been shown to be safe, with no associated side effects, chance of overdose or negative interactions with other treatments.

About Amp Orthopedics
