WATERLOO, Ontario, Oct. 18, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Descartes Systems Group DSGX DSG, a global leader in logistics technology, announced that Annette Sandberg, CEO of TransSafe Consulting and former Administrator of the United States Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), is scheduled to present at Descartes' "Evolution 2011" Global User & Partner Conference in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, November 8-10, 2011.

Ms. Sandberg is scheduled to present two sessions during Descartes' premier user event. On November 8, 2011, Ms. Sandberg will host an in-depth training workshop for Descartes' customers covering upcoming FMCSA regulations and how they may impact the industry. She will also comment on the impact of the Compliance Safety Accountability (CSA) program on motor carriers, private fleet operators, shippers and brokers to provide participants with her insights on how fleets are scored under the new system and may be scored in the future.

On November 10, 2011, Ms. Sandberg's industry keynote presentation will address transportation regulatory trends at national and global levels. She will share her unique perspective on integration of federal, state, and local government policy, regulation, and compliance issues into effective transportation, safety and security solutions for a broad range of fleet operations.

Ms. Sandberg has more than 20 years of professional public safety and law enforcement experience. Nominated by former US President George W. Bush and confirmed by the Senate, she became the 2nd Administrator of the FMCSA in 2003. Her focused efforts in highway safety assisted in the reduction of large-truck fatality rates by 41%. She has also served as Deputy Administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Chief of the Washington State Patrol.

Evolution 2011 is the pinnacle event where Descartes' customers and partners from around the world get together to network, share perspectives, gain insight on technology and industry trends, provide input on product development plans, and learn more about how to improve their logistics operations.
