New Leadership Named at CENG's Nine Mile Point Facility

SCRIBA, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Constellation Energy Nuclear Group (CENG) today announced that Ken Langdon has been named Vice President, Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station (NMP) reporting to Sam Belcher, CENG Senior Vice President – Operations, effective October 31. In a related move, Michel Philippon, Manager – Operations at NMP is the new Plant General Manager – NMP, reporting to Langdon. Frank Payne, currently the General Supervisor – Shift Operations, has been named Manager – Operations at NMP, reporting to Philippon.

Langdon joins CENG from Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), where he was the plant manager at Sequoyah Nuclear Plant. Prior to TVA, Landgon served in various leadership roles at Diablo Canyon Power Plant, Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station and Dresden Station. During his time with Exelon, Langdon earned a boiling water reactor senior reactor operator certification from LaSalle County Nuclear Station. In addition, he has experience in maintenance, training, work management, outages, project and contract management and operations.

Langdon earned a B.S. degree from Southern Illinois University. In the U.S. Navy nuclear program for eight years, he was a staff instructor and reactor mechanic aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt.

Philippon joined Nine Mile in November 2010 after working as the Manager - Operations at Vermont Yankee. He also has experience at Detroit Edison in operations, performance improvement, plant engineering and technical advisor. He served aboard the USS James Madison (SSBN 627) for six years operating the reactor and performing maintenance and testing on reactor controls equipment. Philippon earned a B.S. degree in Electronic Engineering Technology from the University of Toledo. He obtained his SRO license from Detroit Edison Fermi 2.

Payne is the new Manager - Operations and has a SRO License for NMP Unit 1. He served in the U.S. Navy in the mid 1980s as prototype instructor and lead engineering laboratory technician. Payne started working at Nine Mile Point in 1989. He has worked as a Chief Radiation Protection Technician, ALARA specialist, Work Week Manager, Shift Technical Advisor, Control Room Supervisor, Outage Planning SRO and Shift Manager. Payne earned his B.S. degree in Nuclear Technology from Excelsior College and an AAS in Radiation Therapy, from SUNY Upstate.
