MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Moxie Software, Inc. – the Social Enterprise Software Company, today announced that Santa Clara University's Center for Science, Technology, and Society (CSTS), has deployed Moxie's enterprise social software to support the Center's process in mentoring the 2011 Tech Awards Laureates, which were announced last week by the Tech Museum: http://thetechawards.thetech.org/media_room/international-laureates-be-honored-tech-awards. Each year, the Center manages the independent judging and application processes for The Tech Awards using its global network in science, technology, and social entrepreneurship to expand the reach of the program and encourage diversity in applicants. In coordination with the Tech Museum, the Center convenes independent judging panels to select 15 Laureates for The Tech Awards honoring brilliant innovators from around the world who are applying technology to benefit humanity.

This year marks the first time that the Center is leveraging social enterprise networking technology to closely engage the Laureates with Silicon Valley's technology entrepreneurs to find experts, share knowledge and collaborate in a private and secure environment. The Laureates join the Tech Awards Network (TAN), which extends the award program from an annual event to a year-round program, creating opportunities for learning, networking and exposure, further supporting the Laureates with their innovations.

“To facilitate the engagement of The Tech Awards Laureates with Silicon Valley's entrepreneurs and leaders, we tapped into Moxie Software's enterprise social software to closely connect mentors who are sharing tacit knowledge and providing business acumen to the selected innovators from around the world,” said Thane Kreiner, Ph.D. “The Center for Science, Technology, and Society is pleased to leverage the latest industry technologies as we support these socially-minded Laureates, whose innovations benefit underserved communities worldwide.”

The goal of The Tech Awards is to celebrate the accomplishments of people who are profoundly improving the human condition through the use of technology in the areas of education, equality, environment, health, and economic development. Three Laureates in each category are honored and one Laureate per category receives $50,000. This year's Laureates will be honored at the annual Gala event on October 20th, where they will present their work to Silicon Valley entrepreneurs. A conference on successful social enterprises will take place at Santa Clara University on October 19, at which the Laureates will each describe their innovations.

“Moxie Software supports higher education institutions such as Harvard Graduate School of Education's LILA (Learning Innovation Laboratory) project and the University of Southern California,” said Tom Kelly, CEO of Moxie Software. “It is also a privilege to work with Santa Clara University in helping them with the distinct Tech Awards and its Laureates who use technology to deliver critical innovations to communities around the globe. Social technologies have revolutionized how we interact with one another in our personal lives, and social is now bringing profound changes to businesses, increasing the speed of innovation by facilitating the access to information and experts.”
