Dog Days 2011: Renowned Artist Saves Pups Through Portraiture

Professional photographer, Linnea Lenkus, continues annual Dog Days fundraiser in September 2011. Proceeds go to local animal shelters in Los Angeles County and Orange County.

Long Beach, California (PRWEB) August 09, 2011

The popular event, Dog Days, by Linnea Lenkus, is back and available to all dog lovers and their furry friends. This is a photography session where proceeds are given to local animal shelters to maintain programs that provide for animals, while educating local communities on the correct ways to care for your pets in the hopes of diminishing euthanization.

The event will kick off at 9:30 am in Pasadena September 10th, then Irvine September 17th, and finally closing in Long Beach September 24th. Session times are limited and are available by appointment only. Call the main office to set up an appointment in the studio of your choice 562-981-8900.

Portrait sessions are $25 and include:

  •     15 minutes with photographer Linnea Lenkus
  •     One 5x7 print
  •     10% of additional prints and products ordered will be donated to the local animal shelter.

*You may upgrade your print size with a larger donation, or if you provide a receipt of your adopted dog, you will automatically be upgraded. Your rescue will also have the opportunity to be featured in the upcoming Linus Gallery Exhibits.

“I am continuing this event because my heart is broken by the foreclosure pets and all the California budget cuts that affect the lives of the animals in shelters. Too many innocent pets are being euthanized, and that is a tragedy,” Lenkus says.

“Discovering Linnea was one of the greatest 'gifts' I could have given myself. She is an amazing photographer, creative, talented and so very Unique in her style and approach. My photos were absolutely stunning! Linnea manages to capture your essence and the beauty of who you are both inside and out, in every photo. These photos are timeless in their beauty and truly a work of art. Thank you Linnea for the amazing woman you are!” Victoria M. (SOURCE: Yelp)

About Euthanasia
According to The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), approximately 5 million to 7 million companion animals enter animal shelters nationwide every year, and approximately 3 million to 4 million are euthanized (60 percent of dogs and 70 percent of cats).
Five out of ten dogs in shelters and seven out of ten cats in shelters are destroyed simply because there is no one to adopt them. (SOURCE: ASPCA)
