SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Netronome, the leading developer of network flow processors, today announced that Nabil Damouny, the company’s senior director of marketing, will present Application of Multicore I/O Processors in Virtualized Data Centers on Tuesday, April 27, from 8:30 – 9:15 a.m. at the 5th Annual Multicore Expo, taking place April 26–29, 2010 at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California. At the expo, Netronome will also showcase applications and use cases for 100 Gbps designs in booth 2320.

“Data centers are taking full advantage of the benefits provided by the virtualization of multicore servers and appliances,” said Mr. Damouny. “My presentation will discuss the I/O requirements of virtualized multicore processors and how to optimize them for high-performance and low-latency networking applications in the data center.”

Amidst rising network traffic, designers of communications equipment face an even greater need for application awareness, content inspection and security processing. As a result, the amount of network I/O processing at line rates increases exponentially. In virtualized server environments, this places a significant burden on the network I/O subsystem. At 10 Gbps and beyond, it dictates the use of an I/O virtualization coprocessor. The presentation will discuss how I/O processors should classify network traffic into flows, apply security rules and load balance to specific virtual machines. This enables the system to fully utilize network capacity by guaranteeing performance, latency and traffic isolation for each virtual machine.

“During the past five years, the multicore industry has experienced major changes and witnessed significant increases in the adoption of multicore technology. We've developed this year’s Multicore Expo to provide the most educational, compelling and timely information available to help those currently leading their organization's efforts to design and integrate multicore,” said Markus Levy, chairman of Multicore Expo. “We look forward to Nabil's presentation on the application of multicore I/O processors in virtualized environments and are pleased to have companies such as Netronome participating in this event.”

The Multicore Expo features exhibitors, demonstrations and sessions with multicore experts from around the world. For more information about the conference, visit http://www.multicore-expo.com/.

About Netronome Network Flow Processors

Netronome’s family of Network Flow Processors (NFP-32xx) are the industry’s only processors specifically designed for tight coupling with multicore Intel® processors to accelerate network, security and content processing to 40 Gbps and 100 Gbps. Additionally, the NFP-32xx is the only line of processors backward compatible with the market-leading Intel IXP28XX. The Netronome Flow Engine (NFE) acceleration cards provide 1, 10 and 40 Gbps interfaces for network and security applications. Featuring packet processing delivered from Netronome’s NFPs, the NFEs improve the performance of network I/O workloads, including deep packet inspection and bulk cryptography. The NFEs tightly couple with multicore x86 processors over a PCIe 2.0 interface with enhanced IOV support.
