BITCOIN: READY FOR MAIN STREET?: Largest North American Bitcoin Conference Risks Introducing Bitcoin to Novices

Nobel Peace Prize nominee Leon Louw said “Every informed person needs to know about Bitcoin because it might be one of the world’s most important developments.”

Bitcoin has a great following among programmers, libertarians, and venture capitalists. The North American Bitcoin Conference aims to spread that message to everyone. The Chicago conference will provide a free Bitcoin for Beginners educational workshop July 19th and 20th. Workshop attendees will know nothing about bitcoin going in and be owners and users after the two hour event.

David Smith, owner of So What’s Bitcoin, and Will Pangman, Tapeke Chief Communications Officer, will be hosting the Bitcoin for Beginners workshop on two separate days.
David and Will are gambling that bitcoin is ready for everyday use. Bitcoin users are primarily younger males in technology. Bitcoin has been plagued with usability problems similar to the early internet. Before web browsers the internet was only accessible to tech savvy individuals because they used it from a command prompt. The web browser made it accessible to everyone.
Smith believes bitcoin has crossed that point, “Six months ago bitcoin wasn’t ready for mainstream. Today it is. Everyone should know what bitcoin is because it might change their life. It has changed mine.” With this workshop being open to the public and providing free bitcoins that theory will be put to the test.
The workshop is designed for users with no prior bitcoin experience. Attendees will:
● Receive free bitcoins and a bitcoin wallet
● Learn how to make purchases from retailers like Overstock
● Learn how to donate to charities.
● Learn how to exchange bitcoins for dollars.
Registration is online through Eventbrite at
