New App for Android Makes Twin Cities Loft and Condo Search a Breeze

The Asbury Group appeases tech-savvy condo and loft buyers in the Minneapolis and St. Paul area with a smartphone application for condo searching on the Android platform.

Minneapolis, MN (Vocus/PRWEB) February 17, 2011

On the heels of the successful launch of its lofts and condos app for the iPhone®, the Asbury Group of The Realty House is excited to offer the same app for people who use Android smartphones.

The new Android app is GPS-enabled and designed to make the Twin Cities loft, condo and townhome search more convenient and easy. Since 92 percent of smartphone Internet use in the United States is on the Android, BlackBerry, or iPhone platforms, the Asbury Group now offers apps on two of the three major smartphone platforms. The group's Android and iPhone apps are the only ones in Minnesota that are built exclusively for people in the Minneapolis-St. Paul loft, condo and townhome market.

“The people who come to us and are considering purchasing a loft or condo tend to be very tech-savvy and make use of current technology in many facets of their lives – they embrace new ways to search for real estate,” said Andy Asbury, Lofts and Condos REALTOR®. “People are using smartphones today more than ever, and there's no doubt that trend will continue. Our new Android app simply delivers to buyers what they are increasingly coming to expect.”

The app is a direct extension of the Asbury Group's website – – which was built with loft and condo buyers in mind and includes a database with profiles and detailed information on more than 2,500 condos, lofts and townhomes. The free Android app taps into the website and was created to stay current with the demands of those who want to use their smartphones to search for properties and learn more about them. The website and app are linked so if users save a favorite property to their phone, they can go back later and check it out on the website.

One of the challenges of using smartphones to search the urban market is the sheer number of properties available. The app addresses that issue by showing users icons of the buildings the properties are in, rather than each property. By clicking on one of the icons, users can see individual units within a property for sale or rent.

As technology advances, the Asbury Group will continue building upon the app. In 2011, for example, the developer of the app has plans to enhance its capabilities by giving users the ability to walk by a building, point their phone's camera viewfinder at the building, and have the number of units for sale or rent, as well as the prices and other pertinent details display on top of the image.

“More and more people are using their smartphones to make initial determinations of the properties in which they're truly interested,” Asbury said. “Our lofts and condos team will continue leveraging technology where we can to make those people's lives easier.”
