NVELO Demonstrates Flash Cache Storage Solution at Storage Visions 2011

Dataplex Host Software Achieves SSD-level performance with Hard Disk Drives

Santa Clara, CA (PRWEB) December 28, 2010

NVELO Inc., a pioneer in computer storage software, today announced that it will showcase the industry's first host-based adaptive caching software product, Dataplex™, at Storage Visions 2011 on January 4-5, 2011 at the Rivera Hotel-Casino in Las Vegas. Dataplex enables the use of low-cost, low-capacity SSDs as cache for higher-capacity HDDs, delivering SSD performance with HDD capacity, at incremental cost over HDDs. Dataplex continuously monitors system data traffic and dynamically adapts to user behavior for optimal placement of data in either HDD storage or SSD cache.

Live demonstrations of Dataplex at the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) Booth will give attendees a flavor of the productivity and cost benefits of using an SSD-based cache solution. The demonstration exemplifies the “Storage Pairing” concept promoted by the SNIA Solid State Storage Initiative (SSSI) Workgroup ( which combines the speed advantage of SSDs with the cost and storage advantages of HDD. Dataplex represents the secret sauce in Storage Pairing – intelligent host software which ensures that the right data is available on the SSD to maximize performance.

“There is no question that HDD and SSD technology will co-exist in the storage hierarchy; it is appropriate that Dataplex, the first host-based SSD caching solution on the market, is one of this year's Visionary Products Award Finalists. NVELO's public demonstration of this solution at the SNIA booth is highly anticipated by our attendees,” states Tom Coughlin, founder and chairman of Storage Visions.

Also at Storage Visions, NVELO's Kevin Silver, vice president of business development, will present a session titled “Caching: The Killer App for SSD Technology” (Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 2:30pm). Mr. Silver will explain how Dataplex caching leverages the strengths of both SSD and HDD technologies and can be the critical factor for greater adoption of SSD's in the consumer market.

Jim Handy, an analyst at Objective Analysis, notes, “By making SSD performance affordable, caching solutions like Dataplex have the ability to drastically change the landscape for SSD in client computing.”
