The Company's Patented Cellulose-to-sugar Process Provides Dual Benefits for Cost-effective Creation and the Elimination of Petroleum

WEST PALM BEACH, FL / ACCESSWIRE / August 1, 2017 / Alliance Bio-Products, Inc. (Bio-Products), a subsidiary of Alliance BioEnergy Plus, Inc. ALLM, today commented on a recent study highlighting the emerging market opportunity within the bioplastics production industry for the company's patented cellulose to sugar (CTS) technology.

A recent study published in Science Advances indicated that humans have created 8.3 billion metric tons of plastics since the early 1950s, of which 6.3 billon tons have already become waste, with 79% of that waste accumulating in landfills or the natural environment. The tonnage of plastic waste is expected to grow as petroleum-based polymer plastic, which utilizes on average 200,000 barrels of oil a day to produce, can take up to 500 years to degrade in a landfill. Furthermore, these plastics are difficult to recycle, as each type requires specific type of processing and should not be burned due to the release of toxic chemicals.

Alliance Bio-Products' patented CTS technology provides a cost-effective solution for the production of eco-friendly bioplastics due to it's ability to convert cellulosic waste material into sugars. These sugars can then be used to create Polylactide Acid which releases 70% fewer greenhouse gases while degrading, compared to petroleum-based polymers.

The use of cellulosic sugars shortens the decomposition period of bioplastics from centuries to weeks, creating more space in landfills and limiting the impact on the environment due to its compostability. The use of existing waste within the CTS process for the creation of these bioplastics further aids in reducing CO2 emissions from the landfills.

"The need to eliminate the amount of waste accumulating across the globe has created a new opportunity for the wide-scale production of eco-friendly, bioplastics," said Jim Brown, President of Alliance Bio-Products. "As manufacturers and environmental agencies alike work together to identify a solution to minimize our plastic footprint, we expect to see increased adoption of our CTS technology which eliminates existing waste piling up in landfills and also minimizes future waste due to its ability to degrade in a shorter time-span."

To further the commercialization of its CTS technology, the Company recently announced a funding opportunity through a 506(c) filing to raise $10 million for the purchase of a closed biofuel facility in Florida. For more information on that opportunity, please visit the offering page.
