Through this webinar, which LabRoots will host June 14, participants will gain a better understanding of non-targeted metabolite profiling for discovery-based research in clinical medicine.

Yorba Linda, Ca (PRWEB) June 13, 2017

Comprehensive metabolite profiling offers a holistic approach for understanding the phenotype of an organism on a molecular level that is closely associated with clinical research outcomes. However, low sample throughput and complicated data processing remain major bottlenecks to biomarker discovery in clinical-based metabolomics research.

An introduction to multisegment injection-capillary electrophoresis-mass spectrometry (MSI-CE-MS) will first be presented as a multiplexed separation platform that takes advantage of customized serial injections to enhance sample throughput and data fidelity with quality assurance.

Recent progress towards characterization of the sweat metabolome of screen-positive cystic fibrosis infants, as well as identification of new markers of CF in asymptomatic neonates will be discussed in support of universal newborn screening programs. MSI-CE-MS offers a cost-effective approach for greatly expanding the productivity of MS-based chemical analyses while offering an accelerating data workflow for biomarker discovery in metabolomics.

In this webinar, attendees will learn from exports on techniques in using CE-MS-based metabolomics for comprehensive characterization of volume-restricted biospecimens, as well as how sweat biomarkers improve diagnostic testing and/or treatment monitoring of cystic fibrosis patients.

Agilent Technologies has arranged to have Philip Britz-McKibbin, a Professor at the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology and Cystic Fibrosis Canada Researcher based at McMaster University, to be the speaker for this webinar.

Prior to starting his current position, Britz-McKibbin completed his doctorate the University of British Columbia, followed by a visiting lecturer position at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a post-doctoral fellowship at the Himeji Institute of Technology in Japan. His research interests in bio-analytical chemistry and metabolomics include the design of new analytical strategies to quantify and identify metabolites in biological samples using innovative separation, mass spectrometric and bioinformatic tools.

LabRoots will host the event June 14, 2017, beginning at 6:00 a.m. PDT, 9:00 a.m. EDT, 3:00pm CET. To read more about this event, to learn of the continuing education credits offered, or to register for free, click here.
