NASHVILLE, Tenn., April 13, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- CoreCivic, Inc. CXW (the "Company") announced today that it received a contract extension from Immigration and Customs Enforcement ("ICE") at CoreCivic's 1,000-bed Houston Processing Center.

Our contract with ICE was extended one year to April 2018, with five additional two-month extension options, while we negotiate a long term contractual agreement.  The Company expects ICE will continue to utilize the Houston Processing Center beyond expiration of the extension due to ICE's expected detention capacity needs, the ideal location of our facility on the southern border, long track record of high quality operations, and longstanding relationship and service to ICE at the Houston Processing Center.

"We are very pleased to extend our contract with ICE at our Houston Processing Center, and appreciate the exceptionally dedicated service of the staff at the facility," said Damon T. Hininger, CoreCivic's President and Chief Executive Officer.  "Our Houston Processing Center is one of the most decorated operations in the United States and we are confident we will continue to provide for the foreseeable future the high quality operations we have provided to ICE at this facility over the past thirty-four years."
