HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Valmie Resources Inc. VMRI and its wholly owned subsidiary, Vertitek, are pleased to announce that the Vertitek Racing Team participated in the U.S. Sport Aviation Expo drone races last week in Sebring, Florida. The Vertitek Racing Team members raced against top pilots in the country for more than $20,000 in cash and prizes in this MultiGP-sanctioned competition, the first ever at a major aviation event.

The three-member Vertitek Racing Team performed extremely well in the main race, with one member, Wes Comeaux, finishing fifteenth. This qualified him to compete in the Hobbico-sponsored Vusion Spec Race, where he placed third.

"The Vusion Spec Race is unique because all racers participate with the identical out-of-box-ready FPV Vusion drone," said Sean Foster, President of Vertitek. "This results in a genuine test of skill involving only flying ability."

FPV or First Person View means pilots wear special goggles that let them see exactly what the drone "sees." A camera is placed on top of the drone that transmits a signal to the pilot's goggles, giving the pilot a unique "flight-like" vantage point.

"We are very proud of the Vertitek Racing Team. They held their own among 100 of the top pilots in the country and we look forward to successful participation at other upcoming events," said Gerald B. Hammack, President and CEO of Valmie. "The addition of MultiGP-sanctioned drone racing to this well-established aviation expo is a testament to the rapid growth of the commercial and recreational sides of the UAV sector."

The U.S. Sport Aviation Expo kicked off last Wednesday. The drone racing experience put the spectators in the middle of the action with a unique, fully enclosed area in the center of the racing course. The area contained several multi-view monitors and a large projection screen that transported the audience "into" the drones as they flew over and around the enclosed spectator section. For those unable to attend the event, FPVlive.tv streamed the event in real time, bringing the action to everyone across the globe.

Wes Comeaux is a member of the MultiGP Racing League for FPV radio-controlled aircraft. He competed in the 2016 MultiGP National Championship held at the Academy of Model Aeronautics headquarters in Muncie, Indiana, and placed sixth out of 75 pilots in that competition. He is ranked among the top 50 fastest pilots in the country.

Vertitek's recently established division, Vertitek Racing, specializes in fabricating and selling racing frames for the competitive drone racing industry. Vertitek Racing's products are extremely light and durable, and have become popular among drone racers.
