TouchView TDDI, Natural ID Combine for Best-in-Class Human Interface

SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 04, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Synaptics Incorporated SYNA, the leading developer of human interface solutions, today announced Huawei has selected Synaptics® TouchView TDDI and Natural ID fingerprint sensors for their new Changxiang 6S smartphones. TDDI delivers high-performance touch and display for the 6S while Natural ID manages secure biometric user authentication.

The Natural ID fingerprint sensor is located on the backside of the Changxiang 6S, enabling users to easily unlock the phone with a touch of the finger and safely access applications and data or perform secure mobile transactions. The new Changxiang 6S also leverages Synaptics' SentryPoint security suite which features Quantum Matcher technology.

Synaptics TouchView TDDI merges touchscreen controller and display driver IC (DDIC) technologies into a single chip – a technology pioneered by Synaptics. The TDDI solution featured on the Changxiang 6S supports its 5.0-inch screen and HD resolution. The RAM-less solution helps lower overall system costs and is ideal for value/volume-based amorphous silicon (a-Si) smartphones.

"Huawei is a cutting-edge industry leader and Synaptics is very pleased to have been selected to be the industry's first triple-play provider of fingerprint sensors, touch controllers and display drivers on the new Changxiang 6S smartphones. We very much look forward to building on this innovative design and together deliver high-performance, highly secure human interface solutions that benefit users globally," said Synaptics' Anthony Gioeli, vice president of marketing, Biometrics Product Division, and Tim Vehling, vice president of marketing, Smart Displays Division.
