DETROIT, Dec. 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- This holiday season, the DTE Energy Foundation, the philanthropic arm of DTE Energy DTE, is donating $122,000 in grants to 10 agency partners across Michigan for its seventh annual Holiday Meals on Wheels program. With the Foundation support, about 500 DTE employees and their families will pack, serve and deliver nearly 18,000 meals to vulnerable senior citizens and homebound adults.

The Foundation's support funds the packing, serving and delivery of:

  • 6,000 meals in the City of Detroit
  • Nearly 5,000 meals in Grand Rapids, Muskegon and Grand Traverse areas
  • Nearly 5,000 meals in Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Clair, Washtenaw and Wayne counties
  • 900 meals in Gaylord and Buckley
  • 600 meals in the Thumb region

DTE Energy also is donating more than 16,000 gifts for seniors across the state to help them stay warm this winter.

"The Holiday Meals on Wheels program has become a tradition for many of our employees, their families and friends, and we are so appreciative of the time they give to spread holiday cheer. This signature program supports our aspiration to be a force for growth and prosperity in the communities where we live and serve," Nelson said.
