MARSEILLES, FRANCE --(Marketwired - August 22, 2016) - Zapata Industries (www.zapata-industries.com), which has executed a Letter of Intent for purchase by Implant Sciences Corporation IMSC, announces the decision to change the host country of its 5th annual Flyboard® World Cup Championship from Dubai to the United States, in an event to be broadcast by CBS Sports.

The Flyboard® World Cup Championship is the final competition in a series of National Championships that are hosted in France, Netherlands, Korea and Japan. The 2014 and 2015 World Cup Championship events were held in Dubai.

This announcement comes on the heels of the completion of the acquisition and consolidation of Zapata's hydro-propulsion patent portfolio and reflects Zapata's commitment to actively protect and advance the commercial opportunities that develop from Zapata's strong and growing patent portfolio.

Pro Watercross, the sanctioning body for the personal watercraft racing a/k/a Watercross and Hydro Flight competitions in the US, will be managing the competition.

"The opportunity to include the Flyboard® World Cup Championship in the Pro Watercross slate of competitions is a huge opportunity to grow the personal watercraft sport as a whole and to expand the Pro Watercross family," said Pro Watercross CEO AJ Handler. "Building on the quality competitive arena already put in place by Zapata Industries will give us a firm foundation as we continue to expand powered personal watersport competitions."

Unlike the Watercross race circuit, which hosts Sea Doo, Yamaha, Kawasaki and factory sponsors, the hydro flight competition will be a Zapata Flyboard®-only competition based on the unquestionable strength of its recent patent assembly.

The new choice of the Naples, Florida, venue also comes one month after Implant Sciences announced its intent to purchase Zapata Industries.

Our decision to move the world cup to Naples Florida reflects our commitment to grow market penetration and broaden awareness for its existing and future product lines. The opportunity to gain CBS Sports coverage validates the growing interest in hydro flight sports and activities.

This year 52 competitors representing 16 countries or territories will be participating in this invitation only event. There will be demonstrations of other Zapata hydro-flight products however the competition will be limited to the most popular product line the Zapata Flyboard®.
