The market is trying to remain in positive territory heading into the last half hour of trading. The Dow Jones has see sawed between negative and positive territory all day. The market has had to digest a lot of negative news today.
There was the dividend suspension at BP (
BP). The New York Stock Exchange's (NYSE) delisting of Freddie Mac (
FRE) and Fannie Mae (
FNM). Nokia lowering earnings guidance for the current quarter because of lower sales. Anadarko Petroleum was hit with a bill from BP related to costs associated with the Gulf cleanup.
Today's closing will give a lot of insight into tomorrow's trading day. The market seems to be looking for direction and will need some good news to remain positive.
