AUSTIN, Texas, Dec. 16, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Today, ShipStation, the world's leading web-based e-commerce shipping solution, announced the launch of new In-Cart Delivery Options. The new capabilities allow e-commerce merchants to provide customers with more accurate shipping rates and delivery choices while maintaining full control over the options available, and online shoppers more options for selecting their preferred carrier and delivery at the time of purchase.

As retailers head into the critical holiday season, the In-Cart Delivery Options from ShipStation bring a new layer of transparency to the online shopping process, where shipping is increasingly influential, yet often leaves consumers with little visibility or control. In fact, ShipStation's recent annual study, Last Touch Lasting Impact, uncovered that for 92 percent, shipping speed is a key factor when making an online purchase decision, with 97 percent saying the same about shipping costs. And despite potential supply chain impacts from COVID-19, 80 percent of respondents still say it's the responsibility of retailers to ensure products are delivered on time.

Now, with In-Cart Delivery Options, merchants can add multiple delivery options to their website's checkout process, including free, flat-rate, and live-rate options from any of their connected carriers in ShipStation. The new capabilities also allow merchants to make more accurate shipping rate estimates. For customers, the new capabilities give them the control and flexibility they now expect when purchasing online. With more available delivery choices and more accurate shipping rate estimates, consumers can more easily select the best option based on their individual shopping preferences, for example, choosing to get an item faster and pay for expedited shipping or opt for free shipping.

"We're inching toward the busiest time of the year for e-commerce, and many merchants are already feeling the pressure to offer more delivery options now that fewer consumers are going to shop in-store this holiday season," said Cindy Schulz, General Manager, ShipStation. "ShipStation's new In-Cart Delivery Options come at a perfect time, helping merchants better capitalize on the most critical shopping season, while also giving consumers more control and confidence that their orders will arrive exactly when wanted. We're proud to be enabling a new level of transparency and flexibility that's a win-win for both merchants and shoppers alike."

The launch of In-Cart Delivery Options marks ShipStation's expansion into the pre-purchase mix. While the brand has long been known for its leadership and innovation in post-purchase delivery and returns, these new capabilities expand the breadth of the online customer journey that ShipStation now helps power. In-Cart Delivery Options capabilities are available on the most recent version of ShipStation for Shopify and BigCommerce customers, with additional platform rollouts planned for the coming months.
