JBG SMITH, a leading owner and developer of high quality, mixed-use properties in the Washington, DC market, today issued its Healthy Workplace Blueprint, which provides a framework to guide its commercial tenants' return to the office. The blueprint is intended to give detailed instruction for maintaining healthy and safe work environments as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Guided by information from federal, state, and local health authorities, with whom JBG SMITH has been closely working, the blueprint walks each tenant through the adjustments that JBG SMITH has made to its operational protocols across its commercial portfolio. The document is specifically focused on health and safety measures related to cleaning and sanitation, indoor air quality, social distancing, and tenant communications.

"The health and well-being of our tenants, employees, vendors, and building visitors has been one of JBG SMITH's top priorities. Our goal in producing and publishing a healthy workplace blueprint is to create an even safer environment, ensure that all stakeholders are informed about what we are doing from an operational standpoint, and educate our tenants about the steps they can take to safeguard their health and the health of their colleagues," said JBG SMITH CEO, Matt Kelly. "We hope that by being proactive, transparent and thorough in our response, we can help ease the transition back to the workplace."

Among the measures covered in the blueprint are new procedures for high impact areas including updates to the arrival experience; recommendations for modified elevator and stairwell use; and strategically placed signage, which details new features and methods to promote social distancing and limit points of contact in public areas.

In partnership with outside experts, JBG SMITH has also developed a comprehensive strategy for enhanced cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitizing of all common areas and high-touch surfaces. In addition, JBG SMITH has been and will continue to monitor each building's indoor air quality around the clock and adjusting, as needed, from its centralized and remote Tenant Services and Security Center.

As part of the expanded procedures, all onsite staff are required to wear masks and maintain social distancing. JBG SMITH has also distributed guidelines to its contractors and vendors and is requiring their participation to reduce the potential risk of exposure.
