New Utah Report Finds that Percentage of K–3 Students Reading at or Above Grade Level More than Doubles After Six Months on Lexia Core5 Reading

BOSTON, March 20, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- After just six months of using the Lexia® Core5® Reading (Core5) program, 3,060 K–3 students in 10 elementary schools throughout the state of Utah have made significant literacy gains. The elementary schools highlighted in a recently released report are exemplar schools using the Early Reading Intervention grant, and their students have been consistently using Core5 since August 2018.

In earlier reports, researchers had also observed the program's positive influence on young learners' progress in the 2017-2018 school year when the percentage of approximately 46,000 K–5 students classified as working in or above grade level in the fall more than doubled by June (from 49 percent to 94 percent). Similar results were observed in the 2016-2017 school year when the percentage of more than 22,000 K–5 students working in or above grade level nearly doubled by mid-year (from 49 percent to 92 percent).
