SANTA CLARA, Calif., March 05, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- OFC 2019 -- Inphi Corporation IPHI, a leader in high-speed data movement interconnects, and Innovium, Inc., a leading provider of networking switch solutions for data centers, today announced a range of industry-leading 100G-400G data center solutions from OEMs, ODMs and optics module vendors to meet bandwidth demand growth. These solutions include Innovium's TERALYNX™ 12.8Tbps low-latency programmable switch, Inphi's 400Gbps Porrima™ Single-Lambda Pulse Amplitude Modulation (PAM4) platform and Inphi's PAM4 Vega™ Gearbox and Retimer. The companies will hold multiple technology demonstrations at partner booths at the Optical Fiber Communications (OFC) Conference and Exhibition, to be held March 4-7, 2019 at the San Diego, CA Convention Center.

Inphi and Innovium's interoperable data center solutions meet the demanding needs of data center customers. The solutions include:

  • 128 x QSFP28 100GbE switch system with Innovium's TERALYNX switch and Inphi's Vega Gearbox to offer the highest radix fixed switch using existing NRZ based copper and optics ecosystem. This system dramatically reduces complexity, power, latency and cost compared to existing solutions that use multiple 3.2Tbps or 6.4Tbps switch chips.
  • 32 x QSFP-DD 400GbE switch system with Innovium's TERALYNX switch and Inphi's Vega Retimer to drive long reach DAC and optics.
  • Optics modules using Inphi's Porrima PAM4 platform inserted into Innovium TERALYNX based switch systems to deliver highly power efficient, cost-effective and high performance 100-400GbE connectivity.

Innovium TERALYNX offers 12.8 Terabits/sec throughput, while delivering line-rate programmability, large on-chip buffers, breakthrough telemetry, and low-latency. TERALYNX supports 10GbE to 400GbE Ethernet and delivers 128 ports of 100GbE, 64 ports of 200GbE or 32 ports of 400GbE in a single device.  Innovium's TERALYNX enables customers to  future-proof programmable switching technology with robust tunneling, low latency, power efficiency, and advanced analytics/telemetry, that are essential for scaling next-generation data centers.

"Large scale data center customers are looking forward to rapidly adopt 12.8Tbps switches with 100G to 400G connectivity to reduce cost, power, latency, and complexity, while expanding network capacity and radix," said Amit Sanyal, VP of Product Management and Marketing at Innovium. "Innovium is excited to see systems companies build multiple 100G to 400G switches with Innovium TERALYNX and Inphi Vega Gearbox and Retimers, connected to optics modules built with Inphi Porrima to achieve those goals."

Inphi's Porrima represents the industry's first sampling platform solution that includes field-proven PAM4 DSP technology, Linear TIA and Driver for up to 400G client optical modules. The Porrima platform also supports a wide range of 25/50/100/400Gbps optical interconnects for hyperscale cloud data center, service provider and enterprise network. Leveraging multiple generations of DSP development, Inphi has developed an optical platform expertise and an API-based DSP software suite that achieves quick time-to-market with the right trade-offs in power and performance for data center optical interconnects.

Inphi's Vega is a family of market leading, multi-rate low power 50/100/200/400G PAM4 Gearbox and Retimer DSPs for system line cards. The PAM4 Gearbox and Retimers support next generation QSFP, QSFP-DD, OSFP and CFP8 optical modules and serve as the external device needed to drive the channels in the retimer applications or as a gearbox in rate-mismatched applications on highly dense system line cards.

"As a pioneer in PAM4 based solutions, Inphi has a range of power efficient PAM4 DSP solutions to enable the next-generation of network infrastructure," said Scott Feller, AVP Product Marketing, Networking Interconnect at Inphi. "Inphi's low power, high bandwidth, and high density solutions working with Innovium's industry leading TERALYNX, will enable the build out of hyperscale data center and cloud networks."
