St. Louis Youth Sports Outreach featured on episode of Returning the Favor with Mike Rowe

Missouri American Water is getting into the sports industry, thanks to a generous and enterprising employee.

Missouri American Water is proud to announce a donation of $1,500 to support St. Louis Youth Sports Outreach (STLYSO), founded and led by company employee Billy Mayhall, following STLYSO's appearance on the online documentary show Returning the Favor with Mike Rowe on Dec. 4.

Media are invited to a check presentation ceremony between Missouri American Water and STLYSO at 1 p.m. on Dec. 6 at the STLYSO headquarters at 9424 Everman, Overland, Mo., 63114, in the basement of New Horizon Church. Billy Mayhall will be available to discuss STLYSO and appearance on Returning the Favor.

St. Louis Youth Sports Outreach is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping provide sporting equipment to children in need. It is a fully volunteer-run operation, and all donations of any kind (equipment, cash, services, etc.) go directly to benefit the youth of the St. Louis area.

"We at St. Louis Youth Sports Outreach are so thankful for the support of Missouri American Water and this donation," said Mayhall, who works as a Distribution Field Worker out of Missouri American Water's office in Cottleville when he's not leading STLYSO. "These funds will be used to purchase sporting equipment and provide kids the opportunity to play sports who otherwise might not. And besides providing that opportunity, when you think about it, it's difficult for an at-risk kid to get in much trouble when he or she is wearing a baseball mitt or a football helmet."

Returning the Favor, which features host Mike Rowe as he travels the country in search of remarkable people making a difference in their communities, spent time this summer with Mayhall and STLYSO shooting a documentary-style episode about the organization. Episodes of the show air on the Returning the Favor page on Facebook.

"Sometimes you don't think you're making waves, but with the support of Missouri American Water and the visibility we will receive from being on Returning the Favor – we're about to become a hurricane," Mayhall said. "Millions of people watch each episode of Returning the Favor, and whatever publicity being on the show generates, we intend to put it to good use supporting the mission of our organization."

For their part, Missouri American Water leadership is proud to see an employee doing such good work in the community.

"Billy has been a fantastic addition to our team ever since he joined in early 2017," said Brian Eisenloeffel, operations manager for the district that includes Cottleville. "He does great work here, but just as important is the fact that he does so much good in the community. It is inspiring to see the amount of effort he puts in and the pride he takes in making STLYSO a success."
