Maine.gov Recognized with a 2018 Government Experience Award

The official website for the State of Maine, www.maine.gov, was named a finalist in the second annual Government Experience Awards, sponsored by the Center for Digital Government.

The Center for Digital Government is a national research and advisory institute that focuses on information technology and best practices in state and local government. The Government Experience Awards program recognizes the achievements and best practices of states, cities and counties that have radically improved the experience of government and the delivery of citizen services.

"State and local governments are responding to citizen wants and needs with increasingly sophisticated online experiences," said Dustin Haisler, Chief Innovation Officer for the Center for Digital Government. "This year's Government Experience Awards winners have well-designed websites and innovative channels that provide citizens meaningful information and services, robust data integration and an exceptional user experience."

Maine.gov is a portal network of more than 170 online services and 368,000 pages of web content that allow users to conduct official government business from their home or office. In 2018, new technologies were implemented including content-management powered agency web sites, and nearly two dozen new and enhanced online services.

"It's always appreciated when the state receives recognition for its Web presence," commented Governor Paul R. LePage. "A great deal of time and effort goes into creating and maintaining the state websites and online services. These awards demonstrate the commitment we have to deliver accurate and timely information about the variety of programs and resources available to Maine citizens."

The state's official website was designed at no cost to Maine taxpayers through a collaboration between Maine's digital government services partner, Maine Information Network, LLC., a subsidiary of NIC, and the State of Maine.
