MB Financial Bank and the Chicago Blackhawks Foundation Team Up with Operation Warm to Give New Coats to Chicago Schoolchildren

MB employees give kids new winter coats at MB Ice Arena

On Wednesday, Nov. 7, MB employees will be at the MB Ice Arena –Chicago Blackhawks Community Rink distributing brand new coats to students from William H Brown STEM Magnet School, a local Chicago Public School whose student body is primarily low income. MB employees will help kids select, try on, and go home with a new coat.

This event is a result of MB and the Chicago Blackhawks Foundation's partnership with Operation Warm, a national nonprofit dedicated to providing brand new winter coats to children in need.

"We are committed to making a difference in the communities where we live and work," said Karen Perlman, MB's Senior Vice President, and Head of Corporate Marketing. "We are proud to not only give the students a coat but also a fun experience and a chance to meet Tommy Hawk, enjoy a healthy snack and a Veterans Day activity."

"Throughout the entire Chicago Blackhawks organization, there is an unconditional commitment to give back to the community," said Tovah McCord, Chicago Blackhawks Foundation Director. "In fact, more than 90 percent of MB Ice Arena's utilization is dedicated to the community, including educational programming with Chicago Public Schools, including William H Brown STEM Magnet School."

More than one in four children in Chicago lives in families with incomes below the federal poverty line. Many of these children need to walk to school, even on freezing cold days. And unfortunately, many of them do not have warm winter clothing.

"MB's support has created an amazing opportunity for Chicago children – not only are they given a brand new coat and a confidence boost that will last through the winter, they also get to experience the Blackhawks and MB Ice Arena in a special way," Grace Sica, Operation Warm's Vice President of Corporate Partnerships, says.
