SANTA CLARA, Calif., Sept. 24, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- ECOC 2018 – Inphi Corporation IPHI, a leader in high-speed data movement interconnects, today introduced the industry's smallest form factor, lowest power and highest performance 64GBaud quad coherent TIA and driver. Paired up as a chipset, the new TIA and Driver will enable higher density line cards and pluggable solutions that are critical for next generation 400/600G long haul, metro and data center interconnect (DCI) applications. Inphi is showcasing its latest 64GBaud TIA and Driver products in booth #600 at ECOC 2018 in Rome, Italy September 23-27, 2018.

Inphi's IN6454TA is the industry's first 64G/64QAM quad coherent TIA with both analog and digital SPI interfaces. Inphi's IN6426DZ is a third-generation single chip quad coherent driver in bare die form. Together, this new chipset offers the size, power and performance needed to support the extremely low distortions to enable higher density 400/600G and 1.6Tbit/s solutions that are critical for next generation networking infrastructure.

The IN6454TA and IN6426DZ chipset was designed for lowest power operation to obtain the higher densities required for the new applications, targeting Coherent Optical Sub-Assembly (COSA) style components and emerging High Bandwidth Integrated Coherent Receivers and Coherent Driver Modulator standards such as those upcoming from bodies such as the OIF. These leading edge devices will enable form factors such as OSFP and QSFP-DD and higher port count line cards for 400/600G coherent transmission.

"Inphi's new 64GBaud quad coherent TIA and Driver build upon our previous generation of market leading 32GBaud and 45GBaud solutions. They are designed for today's 400/600G long haul, metro and DCI networks, in which flexibility, efficient power consumption and smallest possible footprint are top priorities," said Dr. Loi Nguyen, founder, senior vice president, Optical Interconnect at Inphi. "With our 64GBaud solutions working together, we continue to set the industry standard, as evidenced by our market position with tier one customers."

"Implementations of the upcoming 400ZR standard will require die-level TIAs and Drivers to fit into OSFP and QSFP-DD pluggable modules," said Andrew Schmitt, lead analyst at Cignal AI. "Having one supplier for both products gives a module or equipment manufacturer an advantage in development and time to market by reducing the variables in the design and easing bring-up and roll-out, something that is important in the fast paced networking equipment industry."
