Hondros College of Nursing Introduces New Program in Medical Laboratory Technology

PR Newswire

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Aug. 7, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Hondros College of Nursing (HCN) will welcome students to its new program in Medical Laboratory Technology for the first time in October 2018. Like nurses and other medical professionals, Medical Laboratory Technicians are vital members of the healthcare team in hospitals and doctors' offices. They work with lab equipment to analyze body fluids and samples, tests essential to patient diagnosis and treatment.

"We are excited to introduce the Medical Laboratory Technology Program," said Tony Mediate, chief executive officer of Hondros College of Nursing. "It is an important extension of our mission and offers a terrific option for those interested in becoming part of the healthcare profession, in ways other than hands-on nursing care."

According to U.S. Census data, the country's population over 65 is expected to more than double by 2060, to a new high of 98.2 million. This increase in the aging population is expected to increase the need for medical diagnostics, including lab tests for cancer or Type 2 diabetes. And according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of medical laboratory technologists and technicians is projected to grow 13 percent through 2026, faster than the average for all occupations.

The new Medical Laboratory Technology program requires six quarters and 94 credits (53 in the concentration and 41 in general education); graduates earn an associate of applied science degree. Initially, the program will be offered only at the Cincinnati/West Chester (Ohio) campus.

Prospective students can find out more about the new Medical Laboratory Technology program by emailing CIN-WC_Admissions@hondros.edu, calling 855-90-NURSE (855-906-8773), or visiting www.hondros.edu.  Follow Hondros College of Nursing on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn.
