LEXINGTON, Mass., June 26, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mimecast Limited MIME, a leading email and data security company, today announced that DMARC Analyzer became an Alliance Partner. Together, joint customers can use Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting and Conformance (DMARC) to more effectively block impersonation, phishing, spoofing and malware attacks by combining email channel visibility and reporting with DMARC Analyzer as well as Mimecast DMARC policies at the gateway and Mimecast® Targeted Threat Protection.

Impersonation attacks are a significant issue for most organizations, growing at a much faster rate than standard malware attacks as cybercriminals look to exploit human weaknesses. According to recent research from Mimecast and Vanson Bourne, 40 percent of the 800 respondents have seen impersonation attacks increase over the last twelve months. Meanwhile, less than a quarter of those respondents said their organization use DMARC in any way (either reporting, quarantine or reject), with another 27 percent saying they plan to roll it out in the next 12 months.

To help stop these often malware-less attacks, organizations must take a layered approach. Combining Mimecast defenses with DMARC Analyzer's reporting and email validation solution can deliver the visibility and protection organizations need.  Mimecast Targeted Threat Protection – Impersonation Protect is designed to analyze  and combine multiple indicators of compromise to block impersonation attacks targeting employees, including those using domain similarity in many forms and impersonating employees themselves using display name spoofing. DMARC Analyzer extends this protection with 360-degree email channel visibility to help detect and block unauthorized use of an organization's own domains to spoof customers and other external parties, as well as employees.

"Impersonation attacks continue to gain popularity amongst cybercriminals, as they require fairly little skill while offering a big return. And, frankly these types of attacks could result in more than just the loss of data or finances – they could tarnish an organization's brand," said Julian Martin, vice president of global channel and operations, Mimecast. "Relying only on end users' ability to recognize that they are being spoofed is not enough. Mimecast combined with DMARC Analyzer allows joint customers to better protect the domains under their control against illegitimate use, and block attackers directly targeting their employees with socially engineered attacks, which leads to improved security for all customers."

"Defense in depth continues to be the best strategy to prepare for cyberthreats," said Dirk Jan Koekkoek, CEO, DMARC Analyzer. "We're excited about what the opportunity of working with Mimecast can offer to customers. By combining our easy-to-use DMARC authentication solution with Mimecast's security gateway and threat protection techniques, customers can more effectively defend against email fraud."
