Fortune 500 company joins nine others with headquarters here

Gov. Ralph Northam today announced that Arconic Inc. ARNC, a Fortune 500 company and a global leader in technology, engineering and advanced manufacturing, will relocate its global headquarters from New York City to Fairfax County. The move will bring approximately 50 jobs to the community.

A decision on an exact headquarters location will be made at a later date.

"Fairfax County is a world-class location for Arconic's global headquarters," said Arconic Chief Executive Officer Chip Blankenship. "We look forward to benefiting from the location's proximity to customers, talent and transportation hubs."

Arconic creates breakthrough products that shape industries. Working in close partnership with its customers, the company solves complex engineering challenges to transform the way people fly, drive, build, and power. Through the ingenuity of Arconic's team and cutting-edge advanced manufacturing techniques, it delivers products at a quality and efficiency that ensure customer success and shareholder value.

Arconic was no. 228 on the 2017 Fortune 500 list and will join a Fairfax County business community with nine headquarters in the Fortune 500.

"I am delighted to welcome another Fortune 500 company to Fairfax County," said Gerald L. Gordon, Ph.D., president and CEO of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA). "Arconic's decision to relocate its global headquarters to Fairfax County illustrates how the county's economy is diversifying with new industries and attracting companies that recognize the value that this community offers for businesses and employees."

In addition to manufacturing products for the aerospace, automotive and other industries, Arconic's independently endowed charitable arm, Arconic Foundation, supports programs that help prepare for a 21st-century engineering and advanced manufacturing workforce.

Time magazine called Fairfax County "one of the great economic success stories of our time." Fairfax County offers businesses a state-of-the-art infrastructure, access to global markets through Washington Dulles International Airport and a highly skilled, well-educated workforce.

The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority promotes Fairfax County as a business and technology center.
