Ferroglobe Update on Silicon Metal Trade Case in Canada

LONDON, Nov. 03, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Ferroglobe PLC GSM ("Ferroglobe" or the "Company") has learned that the Canadian International Trade Tribunal ("CITT") determined that dumped silicon metal imports from Laos and Thailand, subsidized imports from Norway, and dumped and subsidized imports from Brazil, Kazakhstan and Malaysia have not caused injury to the sole Canadian producer of silicon metal, Quebec Silicon Limited Partnership, and QSIP Canada ULC, subsidiaries of the Company.

The November 2, 2017 ruling by the CITT is especially disappointing to Ferroglobe given the final determination by the Canada Border Services Agency ("CBSA") that the six countries had dumped by up to 86.5% and been subsidized by up to 269.7%. This final determination by the CBSA was made on October 3, 2017.

At this time the CITT has not provided a statement of reasons supporting their decision, and is expected to issue this within 15 days.   Ferroglobe disagrees with this outcome and awaits the review of the CITT's statement of reasons so that it may fully evaluate its position and next steps.

The CITT's full statement regarding the preliminary determinations can be found at: http://www.citt-tcce.gc.ca/en/node/8090
