Zuckerberg: Facebook's Shift to Mobile Not Just to Make More Money

While The Social Network might have made you think Mark Zuckerberg will do anything for the bottom line, if you ask the man himself, he's a servant of the customer.

In an earnings call on Wednesday, Facebook Inc FB chairman and CEO Mark Zuckerberg denied an allegation that he told his mobile engineers the company needed to generate $1 billion in mobile revenue.

The Facebook founder explained that the company's shift to focus on mobile came from a realization that "we realized that mobile was growing faster than desktop and that people were shifting their usage."

"It was the more important thing for people's customer experience," Zuckerberg added.

In the fourth quarter of 2015, Facebook had 934 million mobile users logging onto Facebook at least once a day.

Crucially, 823 million Facebook users only accessed the network via a mobile device in the fourth quarter.

Facebook also posted revenues of $5.8 billion in the fourth quarter of 2015.

Non-GAAP EPS came to $0.79 for Q4 2015.

Facebook shares were up 16 percent Thursday afternoon, riding a high off of its most successful quarter in three years.
