Shire PLC (ADR) (NASDAQ: SHPG) is weighing options for sweetening its bid for Baxalta Inc (NYSE: BXLT), according to sources, as reported by the Wall Street Journal on Sunday. Baxalta rejected Shire's $30 billion all-stock bid in August, saying it significantly undervalued the company. Shire shares fell 1.08 percent to close at $223.00 on Friday, while Baxalta shares gained 2.29 percent to close at $35.81 on Friday.
Shares of Kroger Co (NYSE: KR) surged more than 5 percent Friday after the company reported stronger-than-expected earnings for its second quarter and raised its full-year outlook. Kroger shares climbed 5.34 percent to close at $37.29 on Friday.
Chico's FAS, Inc. (NYSE: CHS) is considering a sale of the company, according to sources reported by Bloomberg late Friday. Sycamore Partners is said to be one of the bidders. Chico's FAS shares rose 0.13 percent to close at $15.12 on Friday.
Wall Street expects Student Transportation Inc (NASDAQ: STB) to post its quarterly earnings at $0.07 per share on revenue of $157.07 million. Student Transportation shares fell 1.01 percent to close at $3.91 on Friday.
Shares of Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NYSE: AMD) surged higher Friday, on a report from Fudzill, that Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ: MSFT) is considering a bid for the chip maker, according to sources. AMD shares jumped 9.24 percent to close at $2.01 on Friday, while Microsoft shares rose 0.44 percent to close at $43.48 on Friday.
