for $184 per share in cash and stock. However, Cigna on Sunday, announced that its board had rejected the proposal as inadequate and not in the best interest of shareholders. Anthem shares fell 0.11 percent to close at $165.06 on Friday, while Cigna shares dropped 0.71 percent to close at $155.30 on Friday.

made a bid to acquire
Humana Inc HUM, according to sources reported by the Wall Street Journal. Humana reportedly hired Goldman Sachs to handle potential offers. Aetna shares declined 0.35 percent to close at $124.07 on Friday, while Humana shares gained 1.47 percent to close at $202.22 on Friday. Wall Street expects Sonic Corporation SONC to report its Q3 earnings at $0.36 per share on revenue of $164.17 million. Sonic shares gained 2.43 percent to close at $33.36 on Friday. Williams Companies Inc WMB reported that its board has authorized a process to explore strategic alternatives following receipt of an unsolicited proposal to acquire Williams in an all-stock deal valued at $64.00 per share. The offer was contingent on Williams terminating its pending acquisition of Williams Partners LP WPZ. Williams Board determined that the offer significantly undervalues the company, based on what Williams expects to achieve on a standalone basis and through other growth initiatives, which includes its pending acquisition of Williams Partners. Williams shares declined 1.29 percent to close at $48.34 on Friday, while Williams Partners shares slipped 1.33 percent to close at $53.25 on Friday.
