reported upbeat earnings for the fourth quarter. Janus reported a quarterly profit of $46.7 million, or $0.24 per share, versus a year-ago profit of $38.3 million, or $0.21 per share. Its total revenue climbed 13% to $254.8 million. However, analysts were projecting earnings of $0.20 per share on revenue of $243.8 million. Janus ended the quarter with $183.1 billion in total assets under management, versus $173.9 billion at December 31, 2013. During the fourth quarter, average assets under management rose to $179.2 billion, from $170.3 billion in the year-ago quarter. At December 31, 2014, Janus Capital had cash and investments of $796.5 million and outstanding debt of $450.5 million. Cash flows from operations declined to $88.4 million in the quarter, versus $92.1 million in the year-ago period. During the fourth quarter, Janus Capital repurchased 1,557,000 shares of its common stock at an average price of $14.83 per share. Janus shares fell 1.27% to close at $16.28 yesterday.
