AP Moeller Maersk Posts Rise In Q3 Profit

AP Moeller Maersk A/S posted a 33% gain in net profit for the third quarter. Maersk reported a quarterly net profit of $1.5 billion, versus a year-ago profit of $1.13 billion. However, analysts were expecting a profit of $1.36 billion. Earnings per share climbed to $67 from $52. Its profit before tax gained to $2.50 billion from $1.96 billion, while profit before financial items jumped to $2.69 billion from $2.09 billion. Its revenue jumped to $12.17 billion from $12.08 billion. For the full year, Maersk expects underlying profit of around $4.5 billion. Maersk Line's net profit rose to $685 million, compared to $554 million.
