3D Printing Stocks Fall Amid 3D Systems Q2 Earnings Miss

Shares of 3D Systems (NYSE: DDD) have plummeted more than 13 percent Thursday following a reported EPS miss ($0.16 vs. $0.18) for the second quarter of fiscal 2014. The Street has not reacted well, as the whole sector has dropped significantly following the news.

In addition to the big drop at 3D Systems, shares of ExOne (NASDAQ: XONE), Voxeljet AG (NYSE: VJET) and Stratasys Ltd. (NASDAQ: SSYS) have tumbled ~9.1, -7.8 and ~2.9 percent, respectively.

3D Systems was the first in the sector to issue results for the quarter, and with the big downward move in its peers, it appears that the Street is using 3D Systems as an indicator for the entire sector's performance.
