UPDATE: Aetna Posts Rise In Q4 Profit

Aetna

reported a gain in its fourth-quarter profit. Aetna's quarterly net income surged to $369 million, or $1 per share, versus $190 million, or $0.56 per share, in the year-ago period. Excluding one-time items, it earned $1.34 per share, versus analysts' estimates of $1.36 per share. Its revenue came in at $13.18 billion, versus estimates of $13.14 billion. Aetna shares closed at $68.27 yesterday.
