SAFM reported a narrower first-quarter loss.
Sanderson posted a quarterly loss of $6.9 million, or $0.31 per share, versus a year-ago loss of $8 million, or $0.36 per share.
Its revenue rose 15% to $595.8 million. However, analysts were expecting breakeven per-share earnings and revenue of $559.3 million.
Its costs and expenses climbed 15% to $605.4 million.
Sanderson shares closed at $52.02 yesterday.
