Mid-Day Market Update: Markets Mixed, Infinera Falls

Mid-way through trading Wednesday, the Dow traded up 0.01 percent to 13,981.18 while the NASDAQ fell 0.08 percent to 3,169.18. The S&P also fell, decreasing 0.04 percent to 1,510.25.

shot up 24.29 percent to $26.10 today, riding positive investor sentiment upwards following its initial public offering. Shares of Shutterfly

were also up, gaining 19.17 percent to $40.03 after posting a very strong fourth-quarter earnings report after the close Tuesday. Metals USA Holding

was up as well, rising 13.01 percent to $20.68 after it was announced that Reliance would buy the company for $766.1 million.

CH Robinson Worldwide

lead the downside of the equities, falling 9.97 percent to $60.33 after missing on the bottom line but beating on the top line after the close Tuesday. GameStop

traded down 6.90 percent to $24.96 after a report that the new X-box may block the use of used games. Shares of Infinera

were also down, falling 7.79 percent to $6.93, despite beating on both top and bottom lines and receiving a series of upgrades this morning.

In commodity news, oil traded up 0.17 percent to $96.80, while gold traded up 0.30 percent to $1,678.40. Silver traded down 0.07 percent Wednesday to $31.81.

European markets were mixed this morning as global growth fears following comments from the Chinese Minister of commerce shook trader confidence. On the downside, the Italian MIB index fell 0.92 percent, dragged down by financials, while U.K. shares showed an upside of 0.39 percent.
