UPDATE: Aflac Q4 Profit Increases 8%

Aflac

reported an 8% rise in its fourth-quarter earnings. Aflac's quarterly profit climbed to $581 million, or $1.24 per share, from $538 million, or $1.15 per share, in the year-ago period. Its operating earnings gained to $1.48 per share from $1.45 per share. Aflac in October expected operating earnings of $1.46 to $1.51 per share. Its revenue rose 6.6% to $6.4 billion, versus estimates of $6.5 billion. Aflac shares closed at $53.49 yesterday.
