UPDATE: Praxair Posts Rise In Q3 Profit

Praxair

reported a rise in its third-quarter profit. Praxair's quarterly profit surged to $430 million, or $1.43 per share, from $429 million, or $1.40 per share, in the year-ago period. Excluding one-time items, Praxair earned $1.39 per share. Its sales fell to $2.77 billion from $2.90 billion. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $1.39 per share on sales of $2.83 billion. Praxair shares closed at $104.95 yesterday.
