ASML's Earnings Set The Tone For Chip-Equipment Industry

ASML Holding (NASDAQ: ASML) announced its plans to acquire Cymer (NASDAQ: CYMI) for 1.95 billion euros ($2.5 billion).

ASML also reported its third-quarter net profit at 275 million euros, from a forecast of 278 million euros. Its sales came in at 1.23 billion euros, versus a forecast for 1.2 billion.

ASML shares closed at $53.59 yesterday.
