Smiths Group Full-Year Pretax Profit Down 8%

reported an 8% drop in its full year pretax profit. Smiths Group's pretax profit for the period fell to 365.9 million pounds, from GBP397.9 million, in the year-ago period. Its headline pretax profit rose to GBP497 million from GBP463 million. Smiths Group's revenue climbed to GBP3.04 billion from GBP2.84 billion, while operating profit dropped to GBP407 million from GBP438 million. Its adjusted basic earnings per share rose to 92.6 pence from 86.5 pence. Smiths Group shares closed at $17.15 yesterday.
