UPDATE: Sunoco Posts Q2 Profit

posted a profit in the second quarter. Sunoco posted its quarterly profit at $248 million, or $2.35 per share, versus a year-ago loss of $125 million, or $1.03 per share. Excluding other items, Sunoco's adjusted earnings came in at $1.22 per share. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.48 per share. Revenue climbed 8.5% to $12.22 billion. Sunoco's refining segment posted a profit of $87 million, versus a year-ago loss of $44 million. Sunoco shares closed at $47.37 yesterday.
