reported a rise in its second-quarter profit. Prudential Financial's quarterly profit surged to $2.2 billion, or $4.64 per share, versus $779 million, or $1.58 per share, in the year-earlier period. Its revenue climbed around 13% to $11.41 billion versus $10.1 billion. Analysts were expecting earnings of $1.54 per share. Prudential Financial shares closed at $47.58 yesterday.
