Toyota Posts Surge In Q4 Net Profit

reported a strong rise in its net profit in the January-March quarter. Toyota's quarterly net profit climbed to Y121.0 billion, from Y25.4 billion, in the year-ago period. However, analysts were expecting a net profit of Y112.9 billion. Its sales surged 23% to Y5.703 trillion from Y4.642 trillion. Operating profit jumped to Y238.5 billion from Y46.1 billion. Toyota shares closed at $78.17 yesterday.
