FONAR reported its financial results Tuesday for the second quarter of fiscal year 2012. For the three months ended December 31, 2011, net income increased 33% to $1.8 million, income from operations increased 31% to $1.9 million while total revenues increased 16% to $9.3 million, as compared to the corresponding fiscal quarter one year earlier.
The basic income per common share increased 56% to $0.50 for the six months ended December 31, 2011 as compared to $0.32 for the same period one year earlier. For the quarter ended December 31, 2011 and 2010, the basic net income per common share was $0.25.
Fonar Corporation closed at $2.22 on Tuesday.
Shares of Hauppauge Digital (NASDAQ: HAUP), the Hauppauge, NY manufacturer, and marketing of analog and digital TV tuner products for the personal computer market, rose 41% Tuesday on 24 times the average daily volume.
Hauppauge Digital We recorded a net income of $443,932 for the three months ended December 31, 2011, which resulted in basic and diluted net income per share of $0.04 on weighted average basic and diluted shares of 10,122,344, compared to a net loss of $738,220 for the three months ended December 31, 2010, which resulted in basic and diluted net loss per share of $0.07 on weighted average basic and diluted shares of 10,083,417.
Hauppauge Digital closed at $1.50 on Tuesday.
Shares of NewLead Holdings (NASDAQ: NEWL), the Greek international shipping company, rose 85% Tuesday on 38 times the average daily volume.
A NewLead spokesperson could not be reached for comment, but the move was attributed to an overall strong shipping group.
NewLead Holdings closed at $1.13 on Tuesday.
